Board of Dietetics and Nutrition
The DC Board of Dietetics and Nutrition regulates dietetics and nutrition in the District. The Board advises the Mayor, evaluates applicants' qualifications, and recommends standards and procedures. The Board also issues licenses, receives and reviews complaints, requests investigations, conducts hearings, and issues an annual report. Members must file personal financial disclosure statements.
The Board is appointed by the Mayor and consists of three members who must be DC residents throughout their service. The Board includes one dietitian, one nutritionist, and one consumer. The dietitian and nutritionist must be eligible for licensure in DC and have been engaged in practice for at least three years preceding appointment. The consumer must be at least 18 years old, not be a health professional or in training to become one, and may have no household member who is involved directly or indirectly in providing health care. The Mayor appoints one member as chairperson. Licenses expire on December 31 of odd years. |
